Your information in the Academy

This notice explains the student features at thereveillefoundation.com/academy/. The Foundation privacy policy applies to the rest of the website.

What the classroom stores

When you create an account, we store your email address, account creation time, a salted password hash, and a hash of your recovery code. We use these to provide account access. Your email address is not verified and is not proof of anyone’s identity. We do not store your password or recovery code as readable text.

We store the lesson numbers you complete and their completion times so you can return to your progress. Knowledge-check answers are checked but are not retained as an answer history. Online assignments store your saved draft responses, submitted versions, and instructor feedback. Drafts are visible only to your student account. Clicking Submit shares that version with authorized Academy instructors. You can revise and submit again; earlier submissions and their feedback remain associated with the appropriate version.

Pilot feedback and instructor access

The optional feedback form stores your lesson or overall-pilot ratings, sign-up and progress-saving responses, comment, and submission/update times. Feedback is linked to your student account. Keep comments about the course; do not submit private journal entries, medical information, or other sensitive personal details.

Authorized Academy instructors can see your account email, enrollment date, lesson completion count and dates, and voluntary feedback. They cannot see your password, recovery code, or private assignment drafts. They can read the responses you submit and leave feedback for you. Instructor access is invitation-only and uses separate accounts and sessions. Moderator accounts do not grant access to the instructor dashboard.

You can update your feedback for the pilot or individual lessons. Your progress download includes it, and account deletion removes it from the active database. Instructor accounts store their own email, credential hashes, role, and access status; invitation tokens and session tokens are stored as hashes. Instructor invitations expire after 48 hours, and instructor sessions last up to eight hours.

Sessions and security

A secure, HttpOnly account cookie keeps you signed in for up to seven days. The database stores a hash of the session token. Sign-out revokes that session. Account recovery revokes previous sessions and replaces your recovery code.

To limit repeated sign-up and sign-in attempts, the service temporarily stores hashed email and network-address identifiers with attempt counters. The Academy does not store the raw network address in those counters. Expired counters and sessions are removed during routine request-triggered cleanup. Cloudflare may process network information and operational logs to provide the hosting service.

Where information is processed

The Foundation operates this classroom using Cloudflare Workers and D1. Account and progress information is held in a separate Academy database. The Academy does not share student login credentials with the Reveille app or moderator portal. No analytics script is included in the classroom pages.

Your choices

You can download your email, account creation date, completion record, assignment drafts, submitted responses, and instructor feedback from My account. You can delete your Academy account there by confirming your password and the deletion. This removes its records from the active database, including drafts, submissions, instructor feedback, saved progress, and sessions. Infrastructure backups may retain prior copies for the provider’s applicable recovery period.

Keep your recovery code private. You can replace it from My account if you know your password. If you lose both your password and recovery code, this pilot has no email-based reset process. You will need to create a new account using another email identifier; old progress will not automatically transfer.

The pilot does not send marketing emails, take payments, or offer subscriptions. It does not ask for a birth date, medical history, or diagnosis. Use ordinary or hypothetical examples for assignments and avoid sensitive personal details. Please do not enter sensitive personal information into the Foundation’s general contact form when asking about your account.
